Glaucoma

Glaucoma causes damage to the optic nerve, which if not treated, can cause progressive, irreversible loss of vision. Glaucoma is a general term that refers to a variety of eye disorders that lead to a build up of pressure in the eye, ultimately damaging the optic nerve. Regular eye exams are the best form of prevention when it comes to treating this condition.
Some symptoms may include:
  • Blurred vision
  • Loss of peripheral vision
  • Halo effects around lights
  • Redness in your eye
  • Eye Pain

Glaucoma Treatment Decatur GA

If you show signs of glaucoma during your routine visit, the doctors at Specs Appeal will bring you back to do extensive testing for glaucoma including but not limited to measuring visual field, eye pressure, stereophotos and obtain an OCT (Ocular Coherence Tomography)* of your optic nerves. Regular eye exams help to monitor the changes in your eyesight and to determine whether you may develop glaucoma.

Once diagnosed, glaucoma can be controlled. Treatments to lower pressure in the eye include non-surgical methods such as prescription eye drops and medications, laser therapy, and surgery.
